How to Sell Anything to Anyone (10 PART SERIES)

Hey, Reader!

A question I've been thinking about lately: what makes entrepreneurs successful?

Growing up, I watched my dad run his own business. He painted houses for a living. I saw first-hand how hard he worked, how good he was, and how consistently he showed up. Most people would say that's the recipe to success.

But there's something missing. And it's something we can't afford to miss. It's SALES.

That's the premise of a new series I'm starting called 'Pitch, Please' — 10 episodes, one for each piece of the Rhetorical Stack, the system I use to help people master the sales process.

Episode 1 is live now: How to Sell Anything to Anyone (IT STARTS WITH YOU), using a framework I call CASE — Credibility, Alignment, Stories, Edge.

Credibility. If you only had one sentence to prove you're the right person for this, what would it be? Not a resume line — the actual reason.

Alignment. Does what you're offering genuinely fit what this room, this investor, this customer is actually looking for?

Stories. Credibility is a claim. A story is proof. What's one real, specific moment that backs up what you just said about yourself?

Edge. Plenty of people sell something similar to what you sell. What's the one thing about you or your approach that they can't say?

In the full episode, I walk through all four with my own answers — including a couple that you could steal and use yourself.

This is the first of 10. Over the next few weeks, I'll walk through the whole process, combining communication research with business best practices.

If you've ever wanted to get better at sales or communication, this series is for you.

And if today's episode gets you thinking about your own Credibility, Alignment, Stories, or Edge — reply and tell me. I read every response.

Hey, Reader! A friend of mine often says: "don't prove to the audience that you are someone, prove to the audience that they are someone." My guess is that most of us get this wrong. It's pretty obvious when we approach big moments thinking "I hope I don't screw this up," rather than, "I hope someone takes something away from this." For Part 2 of 'Pitch, Please,' I'm walking you through how to analyze an audience. I use a four-step process, acronym being READ (Roles, Expectations, Aversions,...
